What Goes Into Our Pricing?

What goes into our pricing?

An Honest Dog Breeder

I understand that pricing is always a consideration when purchasing a new puppy.

Let me just start off by saying, there is no such thing as a quality, cheap Golden Retriever!

What you save today can cost you dearly tomorrow.

I ask that you please read the following information before you e-mail or call me. Please allow me to educate you on the price of our Pure Bred Golden Retriever.

Whether you buy one of my puppies or someone else’s ask yourself the following questions:

  1. Are the people you buying the puppy from a breeder? Can you visit and meet the parents of the puppy? Can you see where the puppies are kept?

  2. Are the dams and sires up to date on shots? How are the puppies growing up? Any kind of training?

If you're unsure, or if the breeders can't provide answers to these questions move on.  Goldens are prone to have problems if not socialized, or disciplined through training.  You will be able to get a puppy for less money, but is it really worth it if your puppy doesn't get started off right? Not being socialized, or has been in a kennel up to the time it leaves without knowing the outside world, or even the inside?  At the end of the day what have you really saved?

Now, does having the good start in life as a perfectly healthy puppy that will live out his or her whole life problem free? NO, they just make the odds greater!

Next, remember a good breeder will be there for you for the lifetime of your puppy not just at the time of sale. So ask yourself:

  • Do you like the breeder?

  • Is the breeder willing to help you with house training, finding good food and suggestions on a vet?

  • Does this feel right? Your gut feeling is always important.

If you don’t have a good feeling about the Breeder move on. You are smart and your instincts are good!

Here are some RED FLAGS that you should be aware of when talking to breeders:

  1. They will not let you see their facility.

  2. They want to meet you some where other than where their dogs are housed.

  3. They will not tell you how many dogs they own.

  4. The dogs are not registered.

  5. They ask for cash as the only payment option.

  6. They do not have a written guarantee.

All of these things are very important and should not be compromised!

I consider myself to be a fair and reputable breeder:

I breed for good health first and then good looks. My dogs are not all the same price, rarely do I discount my dogs, unless you are purchasing multiple Goldens from me. I am in this business for the long term not just for today. What I charge for my dogs enables me to take care of them properly.

All of my dogs are AKC or APR registered, have had all vet recommended inoculations for their age at the time of sale, vet checked and come with two rounds of dewormer.  All puppy deposits are non-refundable. Deposits may be transferred between litters for your convenience. I would love to have the opportunity to speak with you about your upcoming Golden Retriever purchase. Email us today!
