Trained Goldens

Training
Trained Golden Retriever Puppies
We will begin training puppies at 4 weeks old. The initial training is to respond to a whistle or a snap. We do this by giving the puppies these cues before we feed. At 6 weeks of age we will begin working with our pups on an individual basis. WE teach them to walk on a leash and begin their obedience training with sit, stay and down.
We also begin crate training at this time by feeding the pups in individual crates. We strongly believe that crate training is the easiest and most natural way to house train a puppy.

Our Goals
Before Leaving
Our goal in training is to create a good canine citizen, one that can become an excellent addition to your home, family, and your life for many years to come.

Our Puppies at 8 weeks
Differences in the training levels:
New Arrivals: (crate trained) They go home at 8 weeks of age. They will have had at least 1 week of crate experience. Of course all of our dogs are brought up with proper basic trainings. They will need to be worked with of course.
Started Pups: They go home around 12 weeks of age. These pups are like kindergartners. They practice multiple times a day. They have learned the basics but still need help and to do things correctly. They have started potty training and can hold it up to 45 mins in the house, are crate trained, learning leash etiquette, socialization, basic obedience ( sit, stay, down, come, wait) some tricks (Dance, crawl, High 5, Roll over) Manners (no mouthing, no digging, no barking, no jumping on us or furniture) and also being taught to play fetch. But as a puppy they have short attention spans and things go quickly. They are still working on Stay, Come, Fetch, Potty training, and proper leash etiquette but they understand what needs to be done to get a treat. So like a kindergartner who knows their ABC's but still need help, they know not to color on the tables but they still might.
Fully trained: They are at least 16 weeks of age. These pups are more like 10 year olds. They understand Wrong, their obedience, how to play well with others, but can still lose focus so they still need a leash. These dogs walk on leash, crate trained, potty trained up to 1 1/2 hours, understand their commands with hand signals, and have learned fetch. Difference pricing on these are based on ability and age.
Young Adults: Prices Vary. Puppies are at least 6 months of age. These dogs are potty trained, work off leash in addition to everything else. Price depends on proficiency type of training, whether they are altered, and have their elbows and hips evaluated by OFA. Most of the Young Adults will earn their AKC Canine Good Citizenship Certificate (CGC) will be moving on to further Therapy or Service Training.
Therapy Service Training: If considering this option, please contact us for more information.
Disclaimer: Puppies, are not programmable and do not all reach the exact same level. Like Children some pups will have harder times in certain areas and it is impossible to fully guarantee perfect training with every pup. Continuing success at home has as much to do with the new family as our training so it is important for you to be prepared to keep practicing with the tools given. We will guarantee that we will have worked over hundreds of hours with each puppy and will do everything possible to prepare your puppy and you. We work with specialized professional trainers, which you can contact at anytime with further questions regarding their training techniques. We will give each puppy the opportunity to be service or therapy dogs, they will however have to pass the temperament test to continue with their Specialized Training.
